Fleetwood Mac: Little Lies (1987)

"Little Lies" is a plea from one person to her significant other to lie rather than tell the truth about their feelings or situation. To date, it is Fleetwood Mac's last Top 10 hit in America.

The Beatles begin their domination of the U.K. In response, The Daily Mirror coined the term "Beatlemania." They would launch the British Invasion in 1964. Quiet Riot: Cum on Feel the Noize (1983)

Quiet Riot frontman Frankie Banali had no desire to record a cover of the Slade classic. He tried to sabotage it, but failed miserably. He failed so badly that the Quiet Riot version became a monster hit and the band's signature song.

Whitesnake: Slide It In (1984)

80s metal was not only over-the-top, but straight and to the point. "Slide It In" speaks for itself.

Elton John: Goodbye Yellowbrick Road (1973)

This is probably Elton John's best song. The title derives from the Wizard of Oz. Supposedly, the film was the first John had ever seen and he used it as a tool to reflect his own life and desire to get back to his own roots.

Van Halen: Jump (1984)

"Jump" was released right before Christmas in 1983 and became a soundtrack song for the summer of 1984. Van Halen combined synth pop with their own arena hard rock sound to create one of the greatest works of the decade. It became Van Halen's only #1 song.

The Batman theme (1966)

Neal Hefti combined surf, 12 bar blues, and camp to create the theme song to 1966's classic Batman series. Four tenors and four sopranos cry "Batman" eleven times. The song helped influence Prince's 1989 "Batdance." Since 1966, it has inspired and resulted in many parodies.

The Who: We're Not Gonna Take It (1969)

Pete Townshend did not write "We're Not Gonna Take It" for Tommy. It was initially a reaction to politics of the period. However, as Tommy developed, and his followers became disenchanted, it became a natural fit.
