Neil Diamond signed a recording contract as a duo act with friend Jack Parker. They recorded two singles which flopped. Diamond went solo in 1963.

Much of his early career was spent writing at the famous Brill Building.

Neil Diamond channels himself in this song inspired by the Boston Marathon attacks. "I was moved by the unity and the attitude of the people in Boston."
