Lead singer Bon Scott died of “misadventure” in 1980 and was replaced by Brian Johnson.

Johnson’s debut album with the band, Back in Black, is the second highest selling album of all time behind Thriller.

The Church: Under the Milky Way (1988)

In 2008, Australians voted this the greatest Aussie song of the last 20 years. The song was The Church’s only international hit. They could never match its success. However, it remains popular two decades later because of its timeless themes and never world feel.

INXS and Jimmy Barnes: Good Times (1987)

Jimmy Barnes and INXS co-wrote “Good Times”, which became an Australian anthem. The song spread to America thanks to the Joel Schumacher film, The Lost Boys, starring Jason Patric, Keifer Sutherland, and the two Coreys, Feldman and Haim. The film is a 80s cult classic. I watched it one night in (probably 1988) with friends, one of which ran all the way home afterward.
