Alone by Heart (1987)

Ann Wilson really cuts loose in this song. "Alone" became the band's biggest hit and still receives airplay today. It spent three weeks at #1 and was the #2 song of 1987. "Alone" also has one of rock's great screams.

Heart: Magic Man (1976)

Ann Wilson sings about an older man seducing a young woman. It turns out the song is autobiographical and the conversation with her mother actually took place in some form.  "Magic Man" became Heart’s first Top 10 hit in America and features a sweet synth riff.

Heart: These Dreams (1986)

Heart really did not do pop ballads before "These Dreams". The song also featured Nancy Wilson on vocals as opposed to Ann. Stevie Nicks turned down the song, which went to #1 in 1986. Reminds me of junior high....probably not a good thing there!

838. Barracuda by Heart (1977)

"Barracuda" represents Ann Wilson's response to a sleazy record execs attempts to intimate a lesbian love affair between her and her sister Nancy. The song has been compared to Led Zeppelin's "Achilles Last Stand" due to its guitar riff. In 2008, the GOP used the song to introduce Sarah Palin at their convention which angered the Wilson Sisters. However, other band members loved the idea since it brought the song back into the public's consciousness.
