The Hollies pioneered the three part harmony. They named themselves after Buddy Holly. Their first couple of singles were covers. Both reached the Top 40.

Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young: Woodstock (1970)

Joni Mitchell wrote "Woodstock" based on Graham Nash's descriptions of the event. Mitchell's version came out in 1969 while Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young released a version in 1970. Later, Led Zeppelin incorporated part of the song into their live version of "Dazed and Confused."

Crosby, Stills, & Nash: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 1997



David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash all belonged to popular and successful acts before uniting to form the folk super group. They were known for the harmonies, internal disharmony, and political activism.
