Jac Holzman founded Elektra Records in his dorm room in 1950. He later founded Nonesuch Records. In 1970, he merged everything with Warner.

Holzman signed The Doors, Carly Simon, The Stooges, Harry Chapin, Judy Collins, and Queen.

The Stooges formed in 1967 and became extremely influential to alternative, punk, and metal music.

Iggy and the Stooges debuted on Halloween night 1967. They quickly gained a reputation for their wild stage shows.
