This is probably Elton John's best song. The title derives from the Wizard of Oz. Supposedly, the film was the first John had ever seen and he used it as a tool to reflect his own life and desire to get back to his own roots.

Montrose: Bad Motor Scooter (1973)

The song begins with a guitar emulating a motorcycle. Ronnie Montrose came across the sound accidently while a tape inadvertently rolled. As a result, the band captured the intro which they felt the song desperately needed. The song has since been a staple of Sammy Hagar’s live performances.

Bob Dylan: Knockin' On Heaven's Door (1973)

Bob Dylan wrote "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" for the 1973 film Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid. The song describes a dying deputy's last moments as he lays down his guns and can no longer continue. Eric Clapton's version appeared in Lethal Weapon 2 as Mel Gibson's character lay dying. Guns n Roses recorded the most famous version around the same time and released it on Use Your Illusion.

Fittingly, Get Up, Stand Up was the last song Marley performed before his death. It is interesting that the Reggae crowd often delve into politics and revolution considering their reputation as marijuana users. You'd think they would be too mellow to revolt!
