Nickelback: How You Remind Me (2001)

Nickelback's "How You Remind Me" was the last rock song to hit #1 on the charts until 2012. It hit #1 in 2002 and was probably the #1 song of the 2000s despite the overall decline in rock n roll. The song was also the most played radio song from 2001-2009. The song is about a man haunted by his ex-girlfriend and sees her wherever he goes.

Weezer: Hash Pipe (2001)

Rivers Cuomo popped some ritalin, drank some tequila, and wrote "Hash Pipe." He lifted from Aldo Nova and Lita Ford for the melody. The video includes giant sumo wrestlers. Quite frankly, it is one of the more interesting songs in rock history.

941. Schism by Tool (2001)

Tool won a Grammy for "Schism." It was well deserved as the song continually changes musically. The meters are in constant flux resulting in bizarre time signatures.  Extreme and constant musical change is appropriate for a song about disharmony and division.
