The Scorpions: The Zoo (1980)

The Scorpions penned "The Zoo" with New York City in mind. Indeed, the city had become a hell hole by the late 70s. However, the song also seems to emote a Cold War feel as well. Whether New York of the late 70s or Soviet East Berlin, the urban decay is palatable in this song.

The Rolling Stones: Monkey Man (1969)

The prevailing theory is "Monkey Man" is about a bad acid trip. However, some believe it is a self portrait by Mick Jagger.

Stevie Wonder: Superstition (1972)

"Superstition" was Stevie Wonder's first #1 since 1963. The song is fairly straight forward and is about superstitions. Jeff Beck played the guitar parts on the Talking Book album while Wonder played the other instruments.

Soundgarden: The Day I Tried to Live (1994)

The song is about trying to live life as opposed to being closed off.
