The Stones shared a love of American blues. In fact, they named themselves after a Muddy Waters track.

1967: Police raid Keith’s home. Later that year, Richards and Brian Jones had their final falling out. Jones was soon busted for drugs the same time Richards and Jagger were sentenced to jail time.
Meanwhile, in response to Sgt. Peppers and the psychedelic movement, the Stones released Their Majesties Satanic Request.

MTV debuted in 1981. In 1983, the Stones released one of the most controversial videos of all time.

By 1984, Richards and Jagger fought constantly. Mick focused on his solo career more resulting in more friction. In 1985, founding member, and keyboardist, Ian Stewart died of a heart attack.

The band disintegrated for a time before reuniting in 1989.

In 1993, Bassist Bill Wyman retired leaving Jagger, Richards, and drummer Charlie Watts the only remaining original members. Darryl Jones replaced Wyman and Ron Wood continued on as well.
