Curtis Mayfield: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 1999




Mayfield pioneered funk and socially conscious music for the black community.

His career started in 1956 when he joined The Roosters. The band became The Impressions in 1958.

Mayfield went solo in 1970.
