Little
Walter is the only person inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame as a
harmonica player. He learned to play at a young age and quit school at 12. He
made his way to Chicago and earned a name for himself as a harmonica player by
age 15. Little Walters’ first recordings were released in 1947. He joined Muddy
Waters’ band the following year.
He became a
band leader in 1952 and scored several hits over the next six years.
The only #1
instrumental that was primarily harmonica.
In 1968, he
died from minor wounds received in a fight. However, they compounded injuries
from other fights and led to coronary thrombosis.
