“America’s oldest teenager“ served as a game show host and businessman. He is best known as the host of American Bandstand and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Clark graduated high school in 1947 and ended up in radio. Eventually, he moved to TV and hosted Bandstand. The show ran from 1952-1989 with Clark as host from 1956 onward. Bandstand helped break many acts, but received some criticism for it’s lack of African-Americans. Clark quickly rectified the situation. In 1972, he began hosting his annual New Year’s Eve show. He continued even after suffering a stroke. Since 2005, Ryan Seacrest has served as cohost. In 2011, Clark and Seacrest once again rang in the New Year.
