Aerosmith: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2001

Aerosmith is a contender for greatest American rock band of all time. They have incorporated blues, hard rock, and pop to create a unique sound that has since been copied ad nausea by other acts.

Steven Tyler formed a band in 1964 while Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton formed their own band. The pair moved to Boston, met Joey Kramer and Tyler and formed what became Aerosmith. Brad Whitford joined in 1971 completing the classic lineup.

Drugs and infighting led Perry and Whitford to leave the band in 1979. Aerosmith entered a lost period.


Perry and Whitford eventually rejoined the band. However, it looked like Aerosmith’s best days were behind them.

Chris Blackwell: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2001



Chris Blackwell founded Island Records in 1959. He pioneered ska music in the 1960s and helped forward Bob Marley, The Cranberries, and U2. As a producer, he worked on Bob Marley’s Uprising and Catch A Fire.

Queen: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2001




Queen formed in 1970. Originally, they were influenced by Prog Rock and hard rock. They changed their name from Smile to Queen when Freddie Mercury joined. They released their first album in 1973.

Johnnie Johnson: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2001



Johnson, a pianist, worked with a number of artists, most notably Chuck Berry.




Few noticed Johnson until Hail! Hail! Rock n Roll (1987).

He died in 2005 after working with a number of artists including Eric Clapton, George Thorogood, Keith Richards, and Bo Diddley.

The Flamingos: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2001



The Flamingos were a popular doo-wop group. They began to tear apart in the early 60s, but continued on in one form or another into the new millennium.
