Bands in
the 90s revolted against their 80s predecessors by focusing on dark themes.
Instead of partying, they dealt in somber tones. U2 bridged the gap between
generations and survived. In 1997, they released their Pop album, which incorporated irony with electronica. The final
track, “Wake Up Dead Man” embraces the early 90s darkness at a time music began
to lighten up again.
