According to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame’s website, “Concert promoter and artist manager Bill Graham forever changed the way rock and roll is presented.” He brought order to chaos in San Francisco’s music scene in the mid-to-late sixties at places such as the Fillmore.

He booked and promoted acts such as Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, and Big Brother and Holding Company. Later, he’d mix genres and book Miles Davis with Neil Young. He tried to avoid the splintering of popular music which became prevalent in the late 70s. In 1985, he helped organize Live Aid.

He died in a helicopter crash in 1991.
