Booker T. and the M.G.s: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class of 1992

The band played an important role in Memphis and southern soul music. It was also one of the first integrated soul acts.

Booker T. Jones left Stax before “Melting Pot” and the band retired the name. Although reunions occurred from time to time.

In 1975, drummer Al Jackson was murdered in his home. The three surviving members reunited in 1977 and Booker T and the M.G.’s were back.

In 2004, they were the house band for Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival.
